Chakkulathukavu Sree Bhagavathi Temple
Chakkulathu Kavu is a temple, dedicated to goddess Durga, located in Neerattupuram, Allappuzha District. The temple, which has a history of more than 3,000 years, is open to people of all faiths. The annual Pongala festival, held on the Malayalam month Vrischikam (November/ December), is a grand affair. On this day, thousands of women devotees assemble on the temple premises and prepare 'pongala nivedyam', a sweet dish made of rice porridge, molasses and coconut gratings.
